By participating in the OJT program, employers can be reimbursed for 50% - 75% of the trainee’s wages. OJT contracts are individually negotiated; the length of training determined by the job’s complexity and the trainee’s experience. Employers are expected to retain those trainees who successfully complete the program. An OJT contract must be in place before the trainee begins work. The Ulster County Career Center operates two separate federally funded OJT programs. One is a Local Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act Act OJT (LWIOA/OJT) program which is overseen by the Local Workforce Development Board. The other is a National Emergency Grant funded program (NEG/OJT) overseen by the NYS Department of Labor. Each program has its own eligibility requirements, and reimbursement rates. Click on each title for additional information about each program.
Customized Training may be the best option for some employers. That's why customized training begins with the employer’s own training design. When available, we can fund 50% of the training costs for eligible individuals who are either incumbent workers or new hires for this training. The business actively engages in curriculum review and design assuring that competencies are attained. Specific job skills training may be hands-on at the business site or may be more concept-based classroom training, or a combination of both. Either may make use of appropriate educational institutions. Customized training requires a commitment by the employer to hire or retain all those who successfully complete the program.
