Job Seekers

It can be difficult to decide where to start when looking for work. The Ulster Works OneStop can be your first move. Whether you are unemployed or underemployed and looking for a better job, once you register at the OneStop you will meet with an employment specialist for an initial assessment to discuss your goals and needs. 

You will then be referred to additional services within the OneStop or to outside agencies as needed.  You will be asked to fill out our registration form, which you may complete at Ulster Works, or you may download and print it here ES100, and bring the completed form with you. 

Services available at the Ulster Works Center include: 

Resource Room: The Ulster Works OneStop Center has a resource room that offers a variety of services and resources to help job seekers find the right job and meet their career goals.  These services include: information on job openings and labor market trends, career counseling, training opportunities, free workshops, and use of computers with high speed Internet access, faxes, phones and copiers.

Employment Counselors are available to work with individuals who have barriers to employment.  They assist you in dealing with choice, change and adjustment in your career.  Some examples may be how best to market your skills, issues raised due to lack of job opportunities in your field, change due to physical limitations, and how to look for work.  Do you have something in your background that is a red flag to an employer, such as a criminal conviction in your past?  The counselor may be able to help you overcome the issues or help with learning how to work with them.  To make an appointment with an employment counselor please call 338-4696.

Workshops: A wide and ever changing variety of workshops are available at Ulster Works OneStop Center.  Some common workshop topics include: resume tips, job search skills, interviewing skills, civil service jobs.  Click here for more information about our workshops.

Disability Resource Coordinator (DRC): Navigating the wide array of programs, funding opportunities, resources, and services available to individuals with disabilities is often cumbersome.  Ulster Works is a Social Security Ticket to Work Employment Network and our DRC is available to assist eligible customers with this program as well as all of the opportunities and services available to you.  Click here for more information on how the DRC may be of assistance to you.

Training: Are you in need of vocational training to help you become more competitive in the job market? 
You may be eligible for funding for training.  Click here for more information about training and funding availability for demand occupations.

Veterans Services: Ulster Works OneStop Center is proud to offer Priority of Service to veterans and their eligible spouses.  if you served in the military, you will be served first by teh next available staff member and given first priority for jobs and training for which you are eligible and qualified.
