Training Program to Lead to Job in Hospitality and Tourism Sector

The hospitality and leisure employment sector continues to grow in Ulster County, and is the perfect industry for people in Ellenville to find a job leading to a rewarding career path. On April 19 and 20, Ulster County’s Office of Employment and Training will be hosting a special two-day training session designed to prepare job seekers for a career in hospitality, and provide them with exclusive access to employers currently hiring.

Modeled after the highly successful Platform to Employment, a program for long-term unemployed that was profiled on 60 Minutes, this two-day “Boot Camp” run by Talent Developer, Laura Finestone, will have participants job fair and interview ready. Finestone will cover interviewing and job readiness skills, writing resumes and cover letters, providing them with job search and networking techniques and walk them through self-esteem and confidence building exercises that improve a candidate’s chances of being hired.

After the two-day training, participants will have exclusive access to premier hospitality and leisure employers such as Resorts World Casino, YO1 Wellness, Honors Haven, Mohonk Mountain House and more.

The class will be held from 9:30 AM – 2 PM, April 19 and 20, at the Trudy Resnick Farber Center, 50 Center Street, Ellenville with the Hiring Fair on Monday, April 23 in the same location. Only those completing the job readiness training will be allowed to participate in the job fair. This program is free of charge and limited to the first 20 registrants. To enroll, please call 845-340-3170. Registration deadline is April 16.
